Pride Guide 1999 GAY PEOPLE'S CHRONICLE
Pride Erie picnic will be a beach affair on Presque Isle
by Michael Mahler
Erie, Pa. On Saturday, June 12, the Pride Erie Picnic will once again be held at Presque Isle State Park at the Beach 11 Pavilion from 2 pm to sundown. Beach 11 is an uncrowded picnic and beach area. The beach is guarded. If you are not sure of where Beach 11 is, stop at the park administration office near Beach 6. Also, signs will be posted throughout the park.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass. Paper plates and plastic silverware will be available. Donations will be most gratefully accepted.
As always, straight friends and families are most heartily welcome. Feel free to bring your children or parents, but parents are responsible for taking care of their kids. There is playground equipment near the shelter.
We'll begin at 2 pm with games, including the perennial favorite, volleyball. The annual Family Portrait will be taken promptly at 4 pm and anyone who wants to be in the picture can be or not, as they prefer. We will be including the picture on Erie Gay News' home page.
We are planning on having a literature table. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, in-line skates and sunscreen. Volunteers are asked to help with clean up, cooking and set up.
Because of state law, alcohol and sales by outside vendors are not permitted. Please respect this. If you bring alcohol, or are obviously drunk, you will be asked to leave the picnic.
If you would like to volunteer, call Michael Mahler at 814-456-9833 or e-mail egcn@ncinter.net
